Ukulele 2: Continuing

In this class, previous beginning ukulele students will continue to learn basic chords and strumming patterns, how to read ukulele tabs, and how to play in a group. All continuing ukulele players are welcome!

Bring your ukulele as well as a tuner and black stand, if you have them.

10 sessions - No class May 27th

Instructor BioSheila Martin holds a degree in music and wrote her Ph.D. dissertation on music in the works of a Cuban novelist. She is classically trained and has teaching awards from the University of California at Davis and the University of Wyoming. After years of classroom and private instruction, she founded an ukulele orchestra in the Black Hills of South Dakota which she directed for four years before moving to Astoria. She has been teaching ukulele at the college since 2020. Her teaching philosophy includes helping students develop the skills of sight reading, technique, and ensemble playing. She encourages her students to seek different approaches and solutions to musical problems and is enthusiastic about communicating her love of all types of music!

COVID-19 guidelines:  The wearing of masks on campus is optional.

 

Refund Schedule and Drop Dates

Last day to drop a Community Education or Workforce Training class with a refund:

  • One or two-session workshops – one working day prior to class start date
  • Three class sessions or more – two working days after the first class

There are no refunds allowed beyond these deadlines:  You are liable for payment of classes at the time of registration and will be held liable unless the classes are dropped within the refund period.

If you withdraw due to circumstances beyond your control such as a medical emergency, you may file a petition for a refund. The date of receipt of the petition, length of class attendance, and cost of course materials and services may be considered in denying or reducing the amount requested. If you need to complete a form to petition for a refund, please email:  communityed@clatsopcc.edu or call 503-338-2408.

Ukulele 3: Intermediate

$75

Are you an experienced ukulele player? Come learn more difficult chords, strumming patterns, and riffs. Develop your skills to get ready to join the local ukulele orchestra! All experienced ukulele players are welcome!

Bring your ukulele, as well as a tuner and black stand, if you have them.

Prerequisite:  Permission of Instructor is required to move from the Beginning or Continuing Ukulele class to this Intermediate Ukulele class.
