How the Native Nations Lost their Homelands in Oregon

How did Native Nations lose their lands in Oregon? Native tribes ceded their lands in Oregon to the federal government through leally binding treaties during the 19th century. The treaties were complex and are generally misunderstood, but they have been essential to Native people ever since. How it all happened is a significant part of our history in the Pacific Northwest.

Weaving Baskets: Potato Basket

Come make your very own basket! Learn how to weave an easy handle country basket. It could also be used to hold parcels or even to simply decorate any space!
A $65 fee for your supply kit and handle (natural and colored reed/rattan) should be paid to the Instructor at the beginning of class in the form of cash or check.
Please bring a sack lunch and these additional supplies: spray bottle, small bucket, soft tape measure, scissors, towel, pencil, flat-head screwdriver, and 4” zip ties.

AARP Smart Driver
with Melanie Wood

This course is specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. It helps students refresh their driving skills and knowledge of the rules (and hazards) of the road, as well as help reduce the chance of receiving a traffic violation or getting into an accident. Oregon state law provides a discount on auto insurance premiums for completing this course. At the end of class, a certificate of completion will be issued to each student to give to their auto insurer.
Please pay the $20 course fee for AARP members, AARP card or number required, (or $25 for non-members) via check or cash to the Instructor in class.
Please also bring your driver’s license and a sack lunch.

WT Ham Radio Technician

Seaside Tsunami Amateur Radio Society (STARS) and Sunset Empire Amateur Radio Club (SEARC) will hold a 3-week test preparation review course for the Technician (entry level) FCC Amateur Radio License.
The Technician license is your gateway to the world-wide excitement of Amateur Radio...the class is FREE!
The material is complex. To help ensure you have a successful learning experience, pre-class preparation is strongly advised.

This class will be held at Clatsop Community College South County Campus at 1455 N Roosevelt Dr in Seaside.
The testing session will cost $14 and is open to new hams and upgrades.

WT Spanish for Educators via Zoom

This course is an overview of basic Spanish phrases with an emphasis on developing a basic vocabulary for teachers, school administrators, and staff. An emphasis is placed on pronunciation, role playing, and commands. Students will learn to speak job-specific and conversational Spanish. There is no grammar, complex rules, or verb conjugations to learn. This class is designed for newcomers to Spanish. No prior experience is necessary. For those working in the field of education it is important today to be able to effectively communicate in Spanish. Organizations can improve teamwork and service with an improved ability to talk to Spanish-speaking associates, parents, and students. This course is a non-traditional approach to language learning resulting in proficiency in a short time frame.
